James Marvin Stephens

James Marvin Stephens, 74, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Tennova Healthcare Dyersburg Regional. Born December 9, 1942, he was the son of the late Arlie Sr. and Lucille Stephens.  He was retired from Dyersburg Electric System and a member of Tucker Street Church.  He was a former employee of Coca-Cola Bottling Company and Edenton Lamb. He was a Dyer County Master Gardener volunteer for 10 years and spent many happy hours in the kitchen, sharing his homemade breads, canned goods and chocolate dipped strawberries with family and friends. James Marvin was a volunteer at the Bogota Community Center and was an avid fisherman.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Reverend Don Layman.  Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery at a later date.                         

The family will receive friends Friday, December 8th from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.                                    

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Betty Welch Stephens; three children, Mike Stephens, Donna Sanders (Ronny), Bonnie Reed (Joey), all of Dyersburg; 5 grandchildren, Ashley Lovins (Keith) of Dyersburg, Kelley Sanders of Mobile, AL, Madison Reed of Kissimmee, FL, Morgan Reed of Dyersburg, Mallory Reed Rouse (Phillip) of Wartrace; 1 great-grandson, Brady Keith Lovins of Dyersburg; one brother, Arlie Stephens, Jr. of Dyersburg.
