Rachel Sue Lay

Rachel Sue Nale Lay, 80, of Dyersburg, died Friday, September 1, 2017 at Dyersburg Healthcare and Rehabilitation.  She was a member of the Calvary Chapel Baptist Church for 50 years. She was also a member of the Community Bible Study and was the Quality Control Supervisor at Salant and Salant Manufacturing.   Born October 31, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Nettie May Murray Nale. 

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 4, 2017 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Brother David Brooks with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery.            

Pallbearers will be Tucker Humphrey, Justin Humphrey, Matthew Humphrey, Tim Dew, Rodney Headrick and Richael Headrick.

The Lay family will receive friends on Sunday, September 3, 2017 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home.                                  

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Lay (Leslie) of Dyersburg; three sisters, Hazel Edwards (David) of Clarksville, Dorothy Johnson of Dyersburg and Elizabeth Headrick (Evans) of Gulf Port, Mississippi; three grandchildren Andrew David Lay of Herndon, VA, William Nale Lay (Caroline) of Nashville, TN, and Jackson Myers Lay of Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lay was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie D. Lay; two sisters, Hester Nale Kennedy and Vernice Rice; and two brothers, Woodrow Nail and Homer Nail.
