Elizabeth H. Fowlkes

Elizabeth H. Fowlkes, 91, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Maple Ridge Assisted Living.  Born March 27, 1926, she was the daughter of the late John Columbus "Bunk" and Edna Nichols Holden. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church, the Sellers Sunday School Class, and the Thursday Morning Bible Study Group.  She worked alongside her husband at Pierce’s Bargain Center in Southtown for many years. Mrs. Elizabeth raised thousands of dollars for the Community Cancer Fund and other local charities by selling her canned goods, sweets and bread. She was a member of Quilters Club at East Dyersburg Methodist, an avid bridge player and fisherman.  She was a devoted Mother, Nana, and friend to all she knew, giving unselfishly of herself with her cooking, baking and unconditional love. 

Pallbearers will be Dan Fowlkes, Clint Fowlkes, Richie Fowlkes, Leigh Ann Lehmann, John K. Holden, Patrick N. Holden, Jan Jones, Elizabeth Wilhoite and John Wilhoite.  

The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 22nd from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. 

She is survived by one daughter, Ann Elizabeth Wilhoite (Steve) of Marietta, GA; three sons, Danny Fowlkes (Bevery), of Dyersburg, David Fowlkes (Judy), both of RoEllen; Richard Fowlkes (Sandra) of Dyersburg; six grandchildren, Dan Fowlkes, Richie Fowlkes, Leigh Ann Lehmann, Clint Fowlkes, John Wilhoite and Elizabeth Wilhote; and six great-grandchildren. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pierce C. Fowlkes (5/2/97); one brother, John Nichols Holden (8/16/12) and an infant sister, Isabell Holden.
