Doris Vaughn Harris

Doris Vaughn Harris, 94, of Dyersburg, died Friday, July 21, 2017 at her residence. Born October 8, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Jessie Edward and Gracie Palmer Mathis. 

She was retired from Sylvania.                                 

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 23, 2017, in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Brother Jim Pilcher with interment to follow in  Fairview Cemetery.                 

Pallbearers will be Daniel Childress, Aaron Childress, Jon Ross Baker, Thomas Clinten Starnes, Jason Starnes and Walter Hyder.   Honorary pallbearers will be James Thomas Cook, James Ross Baker, Jared Hyder, Ryan Lynn Kindle

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m, Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Curry Funeral Home.                                 

She is survived by two daughters, Tommie Sue Kindle (Steve) and Doris Suann Childress  (Danny), both of Dyersburg; one sister, Mary Zelma Coburn of Dyersburg; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Duncan Vaughn; one daughter, Charlotte Ann Cook; one great-grandchild, Nathan Starnes; one great-great-grandchild, Jaxon Cole; one sister, Georgia Climer; and three brothers, Thomas Mathis, Jessie Mathis and Lynn Mathis.  

The family requests memorials be directed to Hillcrest Baptist Church, 825 Hillcrest Avenue, Dyersburg, TN 38024.
