Elwood "Woody" Herr

Elwood “Woody” Herr, 81, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Regional One Hospital in Memphis.  Born May 23, 1936 to the late Victor Emmanuel Herr and Ruth Susanna LeFevre Herr.   He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Ridgely, TN.  Woody was a boating enthusiast and an avid snow mobile fan whenever he visited his relatives in Illinois in the winter.

Woody moved to Dyersburg from his Illinois home as a part of the World Color plant when it came to our area.  After World Color closed, Woody started working at the Ag Center, later Tennessee Tractor where he remained until his retirement last year.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

He is survived by Brenda Boswell Herr, his wife of twenty-eight years. He is also survived by two sons: Jamie Herr of Illinois and Gregory Herr of McKinsey, TN; two step-sons: Scott Hughes of Newbern, TN and Steve Hughes of Jackson, TN; one daughter Denise Lyday of Oden, Illinois; two brothers: Rodney Herr of Boise, Idaho and Richard Herr of Lakewood, Colorado; one sister: Delores Meiners of Sterling, Illinois; five grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.     

He was preceded in death by his parents, two children, and a sister.
