Martha Donner Borthwick

Martha Wheeler Donner Borthwick, 92, of Osprey, FL, formerly of Dyersburg, died Thursday, January 12, 2017 at her residence.  Born November 14, 1924 to the late Richard H. and Mary Kennedy Wheeler, she was a homemaker.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.  She was an avid bridge player and was involved with a weekly group known as The Almighty Bridge Club.  She was also a member of The Field Club and The Oaks Club in Osprey and was very supportive of Marie Selby Botanical Gardens.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2017 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church conducted by Reverend Gary Meade. Pallbearer will be Elliot Bloch. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. 

The Donner family will receive friends Friday, February 17th beginning at 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the Wheeler Room at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.

She is survived by her husband Antony T. Borthwick of Osprey, FL; two daughters, Suzanne Donner of Franklin and Betsy Bloch (John) of Guadalupita, NM; one son, Richard W. Donner (Connie) of Dyersburg; grandchildren are Elliot Bloch, (Tara) of Henderson, NV, Nina Bloch, (Matt) of Atlanta, GA, Mary Anna Pritchett (Heath), Cheraton Dykes (Dale), both of Dyersburg;  great grandchildren, Avery Bloch, Jenna Malone, both of Henderson, NV, JR, Grant Dykes and Ellie, Emma Claire and Joe Wheeler Pritchett, all of Dyersburg. She was also survived by her caregiver, Marites Flick, who treated her with respect, dignity, and love the last years of her life.       

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. “Dick” Donner.
