David Scott

David Lee Scott, Sr. (Papa), 56, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, December 31, 2016 at his residence. Born February 10,1960 he was the son of the late Billy Ewell and Grapel Jernigan Scott. He was a die-setter at Heckethorn Manufacturing of Dyersburg. He was an avid fisherman who, according to his family, “Would rather fish than work”. He was a Jeff Gordon fan. But most of all, he deeply loved all his children and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm, Friday, January 6, 2017, in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Brother Jeff Smith with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery.   

Pallbearers will be Justin Scott, Justin Roberson, Stephen Roberson and Josh Scott all of Dyersburg, Oscar Starks of Paris, TN, David Scott II and Jimmy Ditto both of Newbern.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-four years, Debbie Scott; his daughter, Autumn N. Starks and husband Oscar of Paris, TN; four sons: David L. Scott II and wife Heather of Newbern, Justin M. Scott and wife Kassie of Abilene, TX, Stephen C. Roberson II of Dyersburg, and Justin C. Roberson and wife Jessica of Dyersburg; two sisters: Suzie Tirey and Charlotte Sweat both of Dyersburg; three brothers: Jimmy Scott and wife Lisa, of Dyersburg, Jeff Scott and wife Glenda of Newbern, and Randy Scott of Chattanooga; nine grandchildren: Brandy, Zoey, Rhilee, Cloie, Rhyan, Torrie, Rae-Rae, Novalynn, and David III; and one great-grand child Malaysia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew Kyle Scott.
