Virginia Sorrell Grimes

Virginia Sorrell Grimes, 93, of Apopka, FL, formerly of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, December 6, 2016 in Apopka, FL. Born August 14, 1923, she was the daughter of the late William Nathaniel Rochelle and Margaret Bell Norman Sorrell. She was a retired licensed practical nurse and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2016 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Brother Harold Roddy and Reverend Chuck Cohley with interment to follow in Sorrell’s Chapel Cemetery.   

Pallbearers will be Benny Hendren, Larry Sorrell, Stanley Sorrell, Bernice R. Moss, Barry Adams and Tom Moss.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 13th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

She is survived by one son, Paul Elvis Viar of Apopka, FL; one step-daughter, Renee Grimes of Knoxville, TN; three step-sons, Kenneth Grimes of Spotsylvania, VA, Arthur Grimes of Zeeland, MI, Robert Grimes of New Market, VA; 2 grandchildren, Angela Marie Viar Middag, Dr. Jeffrey Kip Viar; 6 step-grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Paul Everett Viar, Leonard Dale Grimes; one son, William Philip Viar; two sisters, Margaret Estelle Iverson, Mary Nell Horner; and two brothers, Jasper Edward Sorrell and Norman Nathaniel Sorrell.
