Jean “Dabaw” Austin, 87, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, October 26, 2016 in Dyersburg. Born November 7, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Kirksie Curtis and Dailie May Ferguson Simms. She was a retired LPN and member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, attended Volunteer Baptist Church and Fowlkes Baptist Church, Senior Circle and MAC Club.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 30, 2016 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Brother Billy Tucker and Brother Danny O’Guin with interment to follow in Bellevernon Cemetery in Friendship.
Pallbearers will be Greg Vestal, Adam S. Austin, Jeremey Boone, Jake Cagle, Michael Vestal and Tim Moore.
The family will receive friends Saturday, October 29th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
She is survived by two daughters, Cathy Vestal (Terry) of Dyersburg, Paula Jean Boone (Bill) of Millington; three sons, Nathan Austin of Texas, Alan Austin of Dyersburg, Gary Austin (Jill) of Jackson; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Nathan Austin and her brother, James Curtis Simms.
The family requests memorials be directed to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311.
