Sherrie Gail Revell

Sherrie Gail Revell, 84, of Dyersburg, died Monday, October 10, 2016 at Dyersburg Manor of Dyersburg. Born February 8, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Jimmie Helen Skipper Purvis. She was a homemaker, loving wife and mother and former First Lady of Dyersburg for 26 years.  A former Miss Newbern and Miss Dyer County Fair, she was National Mother of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority and a member of The Sewing Circle. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and a member of Gideon’s Auxiliary.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 13, 2016 in the Sanctuary of First United Methodist Church conducted Reverend Ed White with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery.  

Pallbearers will be Jason Wyse, Scott Helm, Sam Helm, Tim Roberson, Peggy Jane Helm, Terry Glover and Richard Davis.  Honorary pallbearers will be Past and Present City of Dyersburg Aldermen, Sellers Sunday School class members and Gideons International members.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 – 11:00 am at the church.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Bill Revell; two daughters, Peggy Davis (Richard), Janie Helm (Sam) both of Dyersburg; two sisters, Jo Nell Thomas of Jacksonville, FL, Gladys Dell McIlwain of Dyer; four grandchildren, Tim Roberson (Michelle), February Roberson Wyse (Jason), Peggy Jane Helm, Scott Helm; six great-grandchildren, Gracie Roberson, Hannah Roberson, Timothy Revell (T.J.) Roberson, Kylee Wyse, Jason Torch Wyse and Scott Carter Revell Helm.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jimmie Ann Hubert.
