Sammy Rogers

Sammy Rogers, 64, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Memphis.   Born March 17, 1952, he was the son of the late Billy Gene, Sr. and Doris Carpenter Rogers. He was President, co-owner and operator of Billy Rogers Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. Sammy gave a life of service active as both Deacon at Mount Vernon Baptist Church and a current member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.  He led a fulfilled life by glowing love for his sons and grandchildren and being a friend to everyone he knew.  The loves of his life were his family, baseball, cooking and yardwork. He was a former member of the Tennessee National Guard.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2016 at Hillcrest Baptist Church conducted by Reverend Michael Crandall.  Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.   

Pallbearers will be Roy Childress, Johnny Dodson, Ronnie Fisher, Barry Frazier, Wayde Jackson, Roger Meadows and Larry Austin Rogers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Gene West, Gary Moore, Skip Riley and Richard Clark.  

The family will receive friends Thursday, April 7th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the funeral home and also Friday, April 8th from 12 Noon until service time at the church.

He is survived by his wife, Fanchon Rogers; three sons, Jeremy Rogers (Nikki), Josh Rogers (Patty), Logan Rogers, all of Dyersburg; two sisters, Judy D. West (Gene) and Rhonda Tatum, both of Dyersburg; one brother, Billy G. Rogers, Jr. (Kathy) of Dyersburg; and six grandchildren, Kaylee, Tucker, Tyler, Garrett, Gunnar and Samuel Grant Rogers.
