Johnnie Sue Wheeler

Johnnie Sue Wheeler, 78, of Central, TN, died Monday, September 21, 2015 at her residence. She was born September 14, 1937 to the late John D. Childress and Opal Echols Childress. She was a member of the Springhill Baptist Church of Gibson County. She was a nurse for 40 years at Parkview Hospital, later Methodist Hospital, Dyersburg, TN. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Thursday, September 24, 2015, in the chapel of Curry Funeral Home. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Kevin Hill, Charlie Brown, Trey Harrell, Richard "Boogie" Hill, Cody Childress, and J.W. Warmath. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Curry Funeral Home. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, J.R. Wheeler; two daughters: Amy Presley and husband Donald from Central, TN, and Joyce Ann Hill of Finley, TN; two sisters Joyce Harrell of Bartlett, TN and Rita Ray of Trenton, TN; two brothers: Bobby Joe Patterson of Rock Falls, IL and Bubba Childress of Central, TN; two grandchildren: Kevin Hill and wife Whitney of Newbern, TN and Emery Presley of Central, TN; and, two great-grandchildren: Kennedy Hill and Parker Hill from Newbern, TN. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dock and Lida Childress, who raised her.
