Sibyl Prince Powell

Sibyl Prince Powell, 97, of Martin, formerly of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Regional Hospital of Jackson. She was born April 3, 1918 to the late Alsa and Myrtle Lynn Prince. She was a member of Gearins Chapel Baptist Church and a retired sales clerk. Funeral services for Mrs. Powell will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015, in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Reverend Jerry P. Powell. Interment will follow in Rehobeth Cemetery. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Kent Powell, Nick Powell, David Tuck, Josh Tuck, Caleb Tuck and Terry Bunnell. The family will receive friends Saturday beginning at 12 Noon until service time at the funeral home. She is survived by her son, Jerry P. Powell and wife Ora Lee, of Martin, 2 grandchildren, Lisha Powell Tuck, Kent Powell and 4 great-grandchildren, Josh Tuck, Caleb Tuck, Lauren Powell and Nick Powell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Powell; 1 sister, Verda Hendren; 1 brother, Ercil Prince; and 2 half-brothers, Ewell Prince and Leroy Prince.
