Barbara Jane Blakley

Barbara Jane Blakley, 74, of Ridgely, died Tuesday, April 6, 2021 in Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Born April 10, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Walter Alan Gray and Nancy Leona Gray Blakley.  

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2021 officiated by Bro. David Gray with interment to follow at New Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Ridgely Chapel of Curry Funeral Home on Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Roger Belt, Larry Belt, Timothy Johnson, Darek Taylor, Jacob Hertog, Ronald Maze, and Matthew Maze will serve as pallbearers.

She is survived by two sons, Bobby Burkeen (Judy) of Dyersburg and Billy Burkeen (Ann) of Humboldt; one daughter, Phyllis Shellhart of Dyersburg; one sister, Frances Scott (Alford) of Crockett Mills. Other survivors include fifteen grandchildren, Roger Belt, Larry Belt, Holly Boyd, Claire Burkeen, Brandon Striffe Burkeen, Luke Criswell, Colby Criswell, Jason Taylor, Payton Taylor, Robert Flatt, Kelvin Flatt, Corey Crowe, Timothy Johnson, Kristin Cheyenne Johnson, Darek Taylor, Dustin Taylor and Jacob Hertog as well as fifteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Carey Lynn Taylor; four brothers, R.A. Carnell, Calvin Gray, Marshall Gray and Sammy Gray as well as three sisters, Katherine Crum, Mary Gray and Helen Ivy.
