Betty Darby Hutson

Betty Darby Hutson, 80, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Dyersburg Health and Rehabilitation. Born July 17, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Mallie and Birdie Plunk Darby. She was retired from Social Security Administration and a member of Sorrell’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2019 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home officiated by Reverend John Lowrance and Reverend Frank Gardner with interment to follow in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 13th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

She is survived by one daughter, Rhonda Sue Whitman (Hugh), one son, Michael Edward Hutson, both of Dyersburg; one sister, Lorie Hollingsworth (David), of Dyersburg; three grandchildren, Michael Patrick Whitman (Jasmine) of Union City, Zachary Michael Hutson, Katelyn Michelle Hutson, both of Dyersburg and two great-grandchildren, Harper Grace Whitman and Liam Asher Whitman, both of Union City; and three sisters-in-law, Linda Darby, Judy Wallace and Joy Goodwin, all of Dyersburg.

David Hollingsworth, Drew Hollingsworth, Mike Smith, Carroll Kirkpatrick, Kenneth Neal and Larry Riggs will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Goodwin and Bud Wallace.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Edward Hutson and four brothers, Donald Darby, Gerald Darby, Billy Darby and Tommy Darby.

The family requests memorials be directed to Sorrell’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
