Cecil "Cigar" Dewitt Simpson

Cecil D. “Cigar” Simpson, 90, of Finley, died Friday, November 3, 2023 at his residence.  Born March 11, 1933, he is the son of the late Johnny Thomas and Mamie Lou Essary Simpson.  He and his wife Janie, were produce farmers and sold their vegetables at the Methodist Church parking lot and Reelfoot Lake Flea Market.  He retired from Neeley Pritchett Farms.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 officiated by Brother Mac Daniels at Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

He is survived by one daughter, Brenda Klaff, one son, Danny Simpson, all of Finley; one brother, Bob Simpson of Richwoods; six grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Janie Simpson; his sons, Bubba Wayne Simpson and Denny Glenn Simpson; and four sisters, Elsie Dial, Geraldine Carroll, Virginia Flatt and Agnes Lawson.
