Emily P. Lewis

Emily Peacock Lewis, 92, of Tiptonville, died peacefully Thursday, February 4, 2021 at her residence. Born June 24, 1928, she is the daughter of the late Harper and Emma Morris Peacock. She was a homemaker and member of Tiptonville First United Methodist Church, where she served for many years as the church treasurer.  She was a volunteer reading tutor at Margaret Newton elementary school for many years.  Earlier in her life, she worked for Southern Bell telephone company and wrote many columns for the Lake County Banner.

In 2014, she was honored for her volunteer literacy work with elementary school receiving the Volunteer of the Year and was recognized for her volunteer work by the Lake County Schools Alumni Association.

Celebration of Life services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Tiptonville First United Methodist Church with interment to follow in Tiptonville City Cemetery.

She is survived by her two sons, Robert Q. Lewis, Jr., Stephen M. Lewis; four grandchildren, Robert W. Lewis of Long Beach, CA, Anderson M. Lewis, New Haven, CT, Charles Quinton Lewis and Stephen Craig Lewis both of Tiptonville; two great-grandchildren, Evan Lewis of Tiptonville and Hayden Robert Lewis of Long Beach, CA; one sister, Paula Henry of Columbia, TN; and two brothers, Loverd Peacock of Little Rock, AR and Curry Peacock of Murfreesboro.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bill” Q. Lewis (01/16/04); and one brother, Harper Anderson “Andy” Peacock.
