Gail Waller Horton, 89, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Canterbury Place. Born December 30, 1934, she is the daughter of the late G. Drennan and Helen Slater Albrecht. Gail was retired and a member of the Episcopal Church.
Gail was an army brat, moving around as a young child. The coast was her favorite, thus landing on St. Simons Island, GA for 40 years as an adult before returning to Tennessee. She went to Memphis schools, Lausanne School for Girls and Central High School. After graduation, she went to Vanderbilt University where she met and married her children’s father then moved to Morganfield, KY until she returned to Dyersburg in 1969. She enjoyed working at First Tennessee Bank as the lobby receptionist and Colonial Rubber in the office.
Gail loved traveling throughout Europe and the Islands with her children and friends. She started raising collies at an early age and continued to love her fur babies throughout her life.
Graveside services will be private.
The family will receive friends; Friday April 26th, 2024, from 12:00 p.M. to 2 P.M. at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.
Funeral service will follow visitation at 2:00 P.M. at the church.
She is survived by her three children, Helen Deal (Joel) of Dyersburg, Lyle Waller of Morganfield, KY, Nelson Waller (Quinn) of Memphis; eight grandchildren Jamie Waller (Erica) of Morganfield, KY, Brecht Deal Fowler (Tyler) of Dyersburg, Elizabeth Waller, Addison Waller and Avery Waller, all of Morganfield, KY, Emily Butterworth of Dyersburg, Cameron Estes
(Taylor) of McKenzie, TN, and Lauren Johnson (Travis) of Cabot, AR; and four great-grandchildren, Oakley Westmoreland, Maddie Jo Waller, Nash Fowler and J.K. Waller.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Horton, her son, Drennan Waller and her fur baby, Follie.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to Dyersburg-Dyer County Humane Society, 1120 E. Court Street, Dyersburg, TN 38024.
