Mary Jo Moss

Mary Jo White Moss, 88, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at her residence.   Born May 12, 1935, she is the daughter of the late Bertha Mae White and Roscoe Carlisle White. She was a member of Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

She retired after 25 years at Dyersburg Methodist Hospital working mostly in the ER.  After she retired from the ER, she went back to work at West Tennessee State Penitentiary as a prison nurse.         

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2024 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home officiated by Elder Harold Roddy and Pastor Chuck Kohley with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery.  

The family will receive visitors Friday beginning at 11:00 am until service time at the funeral home.

Brad Pounders, Austin Purvis, Lucan Pounders, Seth Pounders, Hayden Byrd, Harrison Barnes and Jacob Burse will serve at pallbearers.

She is survived by two daughters, Karen Moss Knight (Scott) and Tracy D. Moss, both of Dyersburg; one son, Paul T. Moss, Jr. of Dyersburg; four grandchildren, Julie Lauren Pounders (Brad), Brooke Nicole Toarmina (Steve), Haley Ashton Moss Purvis (Austin), Hillary Elizabeth Jackson; and six great-grandchildren, Donimic Toarmina, Andrew Toarmina, Zoe Jade Pounders, Lucas Tye Pounders, Seth Christian Pounders; Alauna Katherine Pounders; and four great-great-grandchildren, Hannah Gitchell, Caroline Toarmina, Olivia Toarmina and Sophia Toarmina.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her husband of 65 years, Paul T. Moss, Sr.; her granddaughter, Emily Toarmina; six sisters, Beatrice Criswell, Lorrell Archer, June Basham, Jean Blackburn, Zelda Seratt, Peggy Golden; and one brother, Roscoe White, Jr.
