Vera Tickle Harness

Vera Tickle Harness, 103, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at Maple Ridge Assisted Living. Born December 17, 1915, she was the daughter of the late John and Lily Reed Tickle. She was retired from Dyersburg Cotton Products after 36 years of sewing. Mrs. Harness was a member of Dyersburg First United Methodist Church. With her love of playing the piano, she was the pianist at Bryant’s Chapel Methodist Church for many years. She was a Pink Lady volunteer at the local hospital for over 39 years.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2019 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Dr. Mary Beth Bernheisel with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 10th beginning at 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

She is survived by her two daughters, Tommie Thackston (Charlie) of Cookeville, Diane Huffstutter (Dr. Paul) of Lenoir City; four grandchildren, Katherine Dunegan, Elizabeth Huffstutter, Jeff Thackston, Charles Thackston; and seven great-grandchildren, Tim Thackston, Ben Thackston, Samuel Thackston, Alex Thackston, Madison Huffstutter, Ryley McCuiston and Colin McCuiston.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband of 68 years, Tom A. Harness; her grandson, Paul Huffstutter, Jr.; two sisters, Margaret Brown, Janette Wright; and three brothers, Calvin Tickle, William Tickle and Paul Tickle.
